Assembly: KittaParts Safety Bracket

Fitting the safety bracket

A safety bracket comes with every set of KittaParts, and it's a safety requirement that you use it. Tall furniture can tip if it's climbed on, loaded unevenly or knocked hard, so your shelves need to be secured to the wall.

1. Fit the bracket before your last shelf

Fit the bracket as you're building up, before the final shelf goes on. Slip the ring over the last dowel and push it up against where the underside of the shelf will sit. Choose one up high, where the bracket will be less visible.

2. Mark, fix, then finish the assembly

With the unit in its final position, mark your holes on the wall and screw the wall plate off. A stud gives you by far the strongest fixing, so find one if you can. Otherwise use the plasterboard fixings provided. Once the bracket is fixed, add your top shelf and cap to finish the assembly.

Please note

The right fixing really depends on how your wall is built. If you're not confident, we strongly recommend getting an appropriately skilled or licensed person to do the wall fixing for you, for everyone's peace of mind and safety.
