1. Sized for 12" sleeves. We landed on 390mm depth because that's what a 12" LP actually needs, with room to pull a record without fighting the shelf. Shelves thread together with dowels so you can build along a wall, around corners, and up as high as you need without tools or screws.
2. Grows with the collection. Collections don't arrive fully formed. Start with a starter kit and add bays as you find more. Split a unit into two rooms, go around a corner, or build higher when you run out of shelf space. New parts slot into what you already own.
3. Room for your gear. Gear sits in an open bay between the dowels, not inside an enclosed cabinet. Leave a bay for your amp or receiver, turntable on top, and send us dimensions if anything is tight on clearance. Most gear fits with 455mm between the dowels. We can plan custom dowel heights and cable notches in the back panel before we cut anything.
4. Not just vinyl. We regularly configure KittaParts for CDs, box sets, and 7" singles alongside LPs. Different shelf spacing for jewel cases, reduced height for maximum vinyl density, shelves for singles. Tell us what you store and we will lay it out properly.
| Part | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Shelves (M / L / XL) | Large and XL shelves for record bays. Ask us about flush top for larger turntables and flush hi-fi tops. Corner shelf for 90° corners between two walls. |
| Dowels | Large 368mm dowels suit standard LP shelf spacing. Custom heights for amps, receivers, and mixed media bays. |
| Bookends | Adjustable clamp you can place anywhere to form a flat end stop. Popular with vinyl collectors to keep rows tidy without leaning directly on the round dowels. |
| Caps | Caps are the top of the assembly. Add them after your last shelf, remove them when you want to build higher as the collection grows. Flush tops are available with no caps. |
| Wall brackets | Safety wall mounting brackets supplied with every kit. We can advise on bracket count for tall and heavy record walls. |
| Doors and drawers | Closed storage for 7"s, cleaning kit, spare stylus, cables, and anything you want out of sight but close to the source. |
Yes. Standard 390mm depth is designed for 12" LPs. Most setups use Large 1570mm or Extra Large 2060mm shelves with Large 368mm dowels for comfortable record storage. On request we can do 330mm height dowels to max out your vertical storage capacity although changes to the KittaParts standard dimensions can result in less modular flexibility down the track.
About 80 LPs per bay if you like room to flip through them. Up to 100 when the bay is full. Message Jem with your collection size and wall size and we will configure bays to match.
Yes. Almost all turntables fit on top between the caps. If not, we can do a flush top with no caps. A full KittaParts wall is a solid bit of timber, but we're making shelving, not audiophile isolation gear. Send us your deck dimensions if you want the top bay planned around a specific model.
Cable notches in the back edge are a common custom option. Share your layout via the Builder or Message Jem and we will plan them for production.
Yes. We configure KittaParts for jewel cases, box sets, and mixed vinyl/CD walls. CD bays use shorter custom dowel spacing, often 140mm with a shallower shelf or custom CD back stops to keep everything looking neat.
Yes. Build what you already own in the KittaParts Builder, add bays for the new shape, or Message Jem with photos of your existing parts. Everything is backwards compatible.
Yes. We make heavy-duty wall mounting brackets that can be integrated into any kit on request. Safety comes down to the fixing between bracket and wall. We are happy to advise on bracket count for heavy record walls.
A full bay of records is heavy, and people ask. At around 100 LPs per bay, you're looking at roughly 21 kg per bay. An Extra Large shelf spans four bays, so up to 400 records on one shelf level is around 84 kg. We've built walls with 28 bays or more, well over half a tonne of records when full, and haven't seen the shelves sag or warp over time. It comes down to wall mounting: bracket count and how you've fixed them to the wall matter on tall, heavy walls. Message Jem with your collection size and wall height and we'll advise.
Hoop Pine is lighter in tone and warm. A popular choice as it fits into most rooms and is cost effective.
Blackbutt is harder and stands up to knocks. Good if the unit sits in a high-traffic area or doubles as a desk surface.
Tint options: White and Black tint on Hoop Pine plywood.
