The original Ply Crate – previously known as the Ply Milk Crate – was one of our first ever products, and has since featured in a bunch of blogs and design magazines in its raw plywood form. Over ten thousand units later, we now offer both the original Ply Crate in various sizes, and a newer flat-pack design that helps us move towards our aspiration of ‘zero-waste’.
Each crate is cut from sheets of 12mm plywood by Cameron, our CNC machine. It is then assembled (by humans) and stacked, ready to ship.
Looking for the redesigned flat-pack crate that saves on shipping costs and emissions? Choose a ‘Clip Crate’ from the options above.
Designer: Jem Selig Freeman. The Crates were designed and prototyped in our previous workshop in Kensington, Melbourne.
Typical lead time: ready to go.
Engineered with 12mm plywood in a raw, sanded finish.
Pre-assembled with glue and brads. We still make and sell these original crates because you love them, however from a design, production, shipping and waste point of view we recommend that you consider our new Clip Crates.
Made in our Castlemaine workshop by a small team, with the finest quality materials.
