Like its older sister, our well-known original Ply Milk Crates, the Clip Crate was inspired by the conventional plastic milk crate that we had often discovered kicking about in Melbourne laneways – or as an ad-hoc storage solution in share-houses. In the Clip Crate we have refined our original Ply Milk Crate design to make it flat-pack, saving on space for transport to minimise costs and emissions. Additionally, the design all but eliminates glue, nails and wasted off-cuts.
Assembly is quick and straightforward – it takes about 2 minutes for one person to pop it together without any special tools. Check out the video here.
Whether you just need one for home, or a whole wall of crates for a commercial installation, the Clip Crate provides ample room to stuff your stuff in.
Various options allow you to select different material finishes and whether you would like carry holes or not or a door or not. You can also bundle a few a save on shipping and handling.
Designer: Jem Selig Freeman. The Clip Crates were designed and prototyped in our previous workshop in Kensington, Melbourne. See the design in 3D.
Typical lead time: ready to go.
Engineered with 12mm plywood in a raw, or film-face finish.
Flat pack thanks to our spring-steel clip system (made from stainless steel), that pop on to form an unbelievably tough and durable assembly. The hand holes are 50mm in diameter with a 5mm edge radius inside and out. Takes around 2 minutes for one person to assemble.
Made in our Castlemaine workshop by a small team, with the finest quality materials.
